Wellington producer Pea Stew is proud to announce the release of his new single Tinglin as performed by his 13-piece orchestra, The Strowlini Orchestra along with Wellington vocalist EDIE.
Tinglin is the long anticipated first single from The Strowlini Orchestra, masterminded by Pat Stewart (Pea Stew, Paddy Fred), who is also one of the main driving forces behind neo-funk band Brockaflower. It is the first single from their upcoming EP, due for release in 2016.
Pat’s songwriting process starts by writing tonal textures, and slowly builds rhythm and/or melody to create a beat that he then sends to his selected group of vocalists/MCs – in this case, Wellington singer EDIE. He then takes what is returned to him and writes complementary horn and string lines, which he sends to his musicians and invites them into his studio to play them. He finds it difficult to describe his own sound, stating that he tries to let the song write itself with as little genre-specific intervention as possible.
Tinglin is available to stream for free on Soundcloud and pay-as-you-like download on Bandcamp.
