muzic.net.nz would like to congratulate Ben Lummis for winning the first NZ Idol competition.
The series came to a head tonight, when the final votes were tallied and the winner announced. The decision between Ben and Michael Murphy was a tough one, but in the end New Zealand voted.
An emotional Ben gave thanks to the country, and "God above", before performing what will be his first single, 'They Can't Take That Away'.
So begins Ben’s career as a recording artist with BMG NZ. Ben’s debut single ‘They Can’t Take That Away’, which he performed magnificently on the show, will be in record stores across New Zealand on the morning of Wednesday May 12th.
The single, impacting simultaneously on radio stations nationwide, looks set to ship close to double platinum, a ground-breaking achievement for a bright new star.
A video for ‘They Can’t Take That Away’ will hit TV screens from next week.
Ben now heads into the studio to record his debut album for BMG. Watch out for the yet-to-be-titled album to land on record store shelves on Tuesday June 15th.
Congratulations also goes out to Michael and the other top 10 finalists!
