“Kids don’t go to gigs anymore”
“Rock is dead”
Bakers Eddy (Wellington), Dead Beat Boys (Auckland) and Skelter (Christchurch) are out to prove that this is not the case, with a collaborative tour of the three main cities this August titled “Three’s a Crowd”.
It would be easy for each of the bands to attach themselves to an older, harder rock band and mine their fanbase, but these young bands want to try something different. They aim to attract a younger demographic and service that much neglected “all ages” audience.
Friends from the touring circuit over the last few years, each band is known for their dynamic live performance and the sense you get from watching them that they are all about having as much fun as possible from their creative endeavours.
Having said that, each band has also achieved significant support from the music industry – noting that all three are “the ones to watch”. Skelter and Bakers Eddy currently have their latest NZ on Air funded single playing on The Rock, Bakers Eddy are about to go on Decent Exposure on The Edge TV and Dead Beat Boys received NZ on Air funding and radio airplay for their previous single 2.
They will play:
Zeal West Auckland on 19th August
Ding Dong Lounge, Auckland on 20th August
Meow, Wellington on 25th August
Zeal Wellington on 26th August
Churchills Live Christchurch on 27th August
