The Hopkinsville Goblins - Posts from Planet Earth
The Hopkinsville Goblins made their first appearance in rural Kentucky in 1955 and have popped up all over the world ever since. They love people and like to play, but too much contact drains their powers. A close encounter with a backwoods musician led to the formation of a creative bond that has produced this – the first Hopkinsville Goblins album. These little guys are interstellar nomads and these songs contain some of their wisdom passed on to help the human race avoid a bland extinction. And dance while it does it.
This album was recorded in different basements, living rooms and garages around New Zealand by Alvis Impulsive channelling the Hopkinsville Goblins creative power. In other words they mowed messages in his lawn and told him when to get his guitar out. The result is the musical matrix you now hear. Use it wisely and often until your subconscious is full. Remember: it’s no game.
The album starts with direct messaging then travels into outer space via some close encounters here on Earth. When it returns we are way down south but heading north, until we hit the floor with the robots and hacks.
This journey is a roller coaster – if you like it, go round again.
We need you to move now.
Highlight tracks:
How much is that bust of Elvis in the window? (cultural debris)
Dot on the horison (driving music)
Monolith surfing (sport in space)
Home run (a short story)
(I’m your) New robot (artificial life with organic bass)
It’s no game (… and it’s raining madness)
What?
What you have here is a complete album, recorded, mixed and mastered with accompanying artwork and design by The Hopkinsville Goblins. The album is a little bit crazy but that’s how rock is supposed to be. No one should apply any kind of logic when following this through.
Who?
It may sound like a rock record, but The Hopkinsville Goblins are a studio creation. No band will be out there touring these songs, but you can contact:
[email protected] and read more of their wisdom on http://hopkinsvillegoblins.blogspot.co.nz/
Why?
These little guys can only function when no outside influences are pushing them. Trust them – they know what they are doing.
Where?
Available as stream / download from the usual suspects, and on good ol’ CDs from purveyors of fine sounds (as listed on the blog).
When?
Now.
