Auckland, New Zealand - 'The Grow Room' is pleased to announce the release of the first instalment in a series of compilations entitled Friends Collecting Friends on the popular music distribution site Bandcamp.
The first edition was curated by Nick Gudgeon (alias: 'Gudgemin', 'Friends of All the World') and Fraser Hunter (alias: 'Clever Calvin, Fluids, Fruitman, Big Friendly').
Album artwork for the compilation was created by Olivia Hunter.
Following the back of the recent success of Lightskin John and Brandn Shiraz's debut album Jive Days, the upcoming release will see the label expand it's focus into more electronic and ambient genres featuring nine individual tracks from nine producers from the emerging Karangahape Road electronic music scene in Central Auckland. Plus a bonus continuous mix of all 9 tracks.
About The Grow Room:
Originating on Karangahape Road in Saint Kevin's Arcade, the Grow Room began as a small group of Hip Hop, Electronic and Indie Rock musicians in August 2014.
After numerous live showcases or 'Exhibitions' by the collective, they have quickly become a key figure in the Auckland underground scene and also within independent radio.
Initially starting on KFM, The Grow Room moved more recently to the 9 - 11pm Saturday night slot on 95bFM.
In August the collective moved to a larger space within Samoa House, further along Karangahape Road and created an independent record label.
