Climbing up the alternative charts comes Auckland band Yukon Era with the second track High Handed off their recently released Consume & Scratch EP.
Despite their youth, Christian, Lachie, Pierre and James have evolved from creating in the basement, to recording this sophmore effort at The Lab. We now hear a fresher, more refined Yukon Era, while still retaining the noisy, post punk sound that the band is renown for.
The Consume & Scratch EP starts with High Handed, offering
quite a contrast in songs - from a mass of noise and energy to closing with
‘Senile,” an open and vulnerable tune about a childhood friend.
In September Yukon Era was announced as one of the local acts on the Laneway
2017 line-up, making them the youngest performers for the independent festival,
playing alongside Tame Impala, Mick Jenkins, The Julie Ruin and Whitney.
The band will be preparing to record their full album early next year.
