Following on
from an epic night one of Rhythm and Vines where festival headliner Chance the Rapper made
headlines around the world with a pledge to move to NZ, ‘meet a nice kiwi girl,
buy a house with a pool and get a german shepherd’, headline acts Kimbra, Netsky and Wilkinson continued to raise the bar performing epic sets to a sold out crowd.
Blessed with a hot and dry east coast afternoon, festival goers came out in force for brilliant sets from local acts Anna Coddington, Bailey Wiley and Three Houses Down as well as performances right into the night from our international guests Goldlink, Denzel Curry and AC Slater.
Returning
back for her second appearance at Rhythm and Vines, local star Kimbra wowed
crowds on the Vine Stage before leaving the stage to festival favourites Wilkinson and Netsky. In a nod
to their affection for our fair land, Wilkinson even mixed crowd favourite Poi
E into his electric set with Netsky wearing his signed All Blacks jersey
during his epic set, one described by many as his best R&V set to
date.
Festival founder Hamish Pinkham says “Hosting kiwi artists at Rhythm and Vines that have made it on the international stage is an incredible thing to be able to do. Welcome home Kimbra!”
Dec 31st will see the festival take the New Year in true Kiwi style with the likes of Savage, Kings, P-Money and Jordan Luck taking the stage along with international acts ZHU, Hot Chip DJ Set and Skream. Proving laughter can be the best medicine to soothe the ales from the night before, Giggle and Vines will also return to the Discovery Stage with Cori Gonzales-Macuer, Rhys Matthewson and Alice Brine headlining.
