Interactive dance floor
finds its new home in Aotea Square.
Get your dancing shoes on and head to Aotea Square these school holidays to dance up
a storm at Dance-O-Mat, the coolest interactive outdoor
dance floor that’s FREE for everyone.
Movers and shakers will delight in the professional-standard sprung dance floor
that comes alive when a personal music device is plugged in and loudspeakers,
lights and a glitter ball switch on.
Beautifully designed as an urban space to bring people together via spontaneous
dancing, the Dance-O-Mat was originally developed in post-quake Christchurch to
make use of the newly vacant spaces in the city. Since 2012, thousands of
Cantabrians (and the Duke and Duchess of Cornwall!) have shimmied, strutted and
shaken their stuff on the dance floor, where no skill or experience is required.
Auckland now has its own Dance-O-Mat in time for the National Dance Week (22-30 April) and will
play host to the NZ Dance Week launch on 22 April at 2pm. Aotearoa’s very
own dance queen, Parris Goebel will be a special guest speaker at the event.
For more information and a full programme of Dance Week events including Latin
and swing dance, Hip Hop, K-Pop and more! Visit aucklandlive.co.nz/show/dance-o-mat
