Aldous Harding's intimate Auckland Shows Sell Out In Record Time and Third Show Announced

09 May 2017 - 0 Comments

Tickets to both of Aldous Harding's intimate shows at Auckland's historic art gallery, Pah Homestead, sold out in minutes this morning. Fans eager for a taste of Harding's charismatic, gothic-folk, snapped up tickets in record time after they were released at 9am. Due to unprecedented demand, an extra show has now been added, giving New Zealanders another chance to see Aldous Harding live at Pah Homestead on Thursday 29 June. Tickets for this third, limited-capacity show will go on sale this Wednesday 10 May at 9am, from undertheradar.co.nz

With only a few days between European and North American tours, these unique Auckland shows will offer fans the chance to see Harding with a full band. Known for enigmatic and engaging acoustic sets, the band - including Jonathan Pearce, Tristan Deck, and Callum Passels - will help bring yet-to-be-released album Party to fruition at Auckland’s resplendent Pah Homestead.

An artist of rare calibre, those who have seen her live know she does more than simply sing. Harding conjures a singular intensity, employing true theatre through her face and body. She dances with steeled fervour - even being compared to a Bunraku puppet - and her performances live in the memory long after the spectacle ends.
Harding's upcoming second album Party will be unveiled worldwide on 19 May, released by Flying Nun in New Zealand and elsewhere on global indie super-label, 4AD (Grimes, Deerhunter). Produced by the award-winning John Parish (PJ Harvey, Sparklehorse), The Guardian heralded her as “a folk artist whose performances strike that rare balance between fragility and full-blown possession”.

Situated on a picturesque farm landscape, the venue for Harding's three shows, The Pah Homestead is owned by Auckland Council. The Council extensively restored and adapted the Homestead prior to its opening as the home of the TSB Bank Wallace Arts Centre in August 2010. Featuring work shown by The Wallace Arts Trust; at the time of Aldous Harding’s shows the the Homestead will feature (among others) a diverse and wide-ranging photographic exhibition Here, Now, Then, Always. Important works are shown alongside possible ‘curiosities’ and recent acquisitions.
