Boney M add support acts to NZ tour

09 June 2017 - 0 Comments

Boney M are currently on tour in New Zealand playing their greatest hits. Led by original member Maizie Williams, the disco legends are playing a one-hour set, jam-packed with all of their biggest songs from Daddy Cool and Ma Baker to Sunny and Rivers of Babylon.

Classic Promotions apologises for the long wait audiences in Dunedin and Christchurch had for the act to come on stage, and has now added supports for the remainder of the tour, ensuring a memorable night of music.

Joining them for three shows - Hamilton (tonight), Tauranga on Saturday June 10 and Napier on Sunday June 11, is New Zealand’s own soul star, Sacha Vee.

Vee recently returned home to New Zealand after making her mark in Europe. While in Amsterdam, she collaborated with producers Killing Skills and Chef Red and released two EPs with BBE Records, Rising One (2015) and Ging Remix EP (2016).

Her collaboration with Polish hip-hop luminary O.S.T.R. produced three hit singles, two x double platinum albums and more than 20 million views on YouTube. Vee recently released her new album, Luminous, featuring the single Feels Good.

Boney M are then joined by singing sensation Bella Kalolo for the shows in Rotorua (June 14), Wellington (June 15) and Auckland (June 16).

Hailing from Christchurch, the Samoan, Tongan and Maori (Ngati Porou) soul sister has been handpicked to work with and support artists as diverse as Mos Def, Ciara, Renee Geyer, Fat Freddy’s Drop, Dave Dobbyn and more recently soul legend Chaka Khan.

With two acclaimed releases under her belt - Without The Paper (2011) and Time and Space (2013) - Kalolo was awarded Best Pacific Female artist at the Vodafone Pacific Music Awards in 2012 and 2014 for these albums.
Boney M finish their nationwide New Zealand tour with a show at The Kamo Hotel in Whangarei on Saturday June 17.

Impromptu will join them as the opening act for this final show. Impromptu have played together for more than a year, collated with over 50 years experience combined within the Auckland/NZ covers band scene. Their fusion of R&B, Soul, Funk, Reggae, Neo-Soul and pop will have punters wanting to sway, groove and move.

With 18 Platinum and 15 Gold LPs to their name, Boney M have shifted a mind-blowing 150 million records worldwide. Now, Boney Mfeaturing Maizie Williams play all hits that have made their current world tour such a success and are delighted to be in New Zealand for the nine-date tour.
