2017 DCM Fest brings Wellingtons Top Musical Talent together to raise funds and awareness for DCM

Over 20 of the capitals top musicians are coming together on Sunday November 26th for the 4th annual benefit Concert for DCM. This year the concert format has been expanded into a day long festival, taking place at San Fran, Cuba St. Wellington. The event gathers together some of the regions best musicians to raise funds for, and awareness of the DCM and the fine people who work there.

DCM (Downtown Community Ministry) has been working in the city of Wellington since 1969 to “focus on the needs of, and to help empower, those marginalised in the city.” DCM has adopted the byline “together we can end homelessness in Wellington” which reflects their current focus on the needs of one key marginalised group – people experiencing homelessness, or who are at risk of homelessness, and supporting them on a journey towards sustainable housing and wellbeing. See the DCM website for more information about their work supporting the homeless of Wellington.

Event organiser Rob Joass: "Christmas is a hard time for many in our city, and this is an excellent way to not only raise money to help the DCM through this period, but to also show our appreciation to the staff at DCM for all that they do for those who need a helping hand.

Coming out to Support DCM this year, in what is looking to be a spectacular day of music and community goodwill are:

Laura Collins and the Back Porch Blues Band
Kim and Dusty
The Rag Poets
The Rumble (feat. Miles Calder and Chris Armour)
Rob Joass and the Small Mercies
Darren Watson
And finishing with an all star party set including performances by Barnaby Weir (The Black Seeds, Fly My Pretties), The Tempests, and guests from earlier in the day.

Doors will open at 2:00pm til 9:30pm with Shady’s Americana Programme on Radio Active being broadcast live from San Fran from 2 00pm. Laura Collins and band then take the stage at 3:00pm. Entry is by Koha with a suggested minimum donation of $20. This a family friendly event with under 18's welcome if accompanied by a parent or guardian.Special thanks to Ziggy and the crew at San Fran for their support, Phantom Billstickers and our major sponsor Kadima Furniture.
