An
impressive line-up of acts will support UK drum ‘n’ bass pioneer Roni Size on his NEW FORMS 20th anniversary tour of New Zealand, which kicks off tomorrow night.
The acts include electronic dance music extraordinaire
Tali and former Londoner but now Auckland-based Chiccoreli.
Revered for bringing drum ‘n’ bass into the mainstream,
Size will play at The Studio in Auckland on October 27, San Fran in Wellington on November 1, Loco in Queenstown on November 2 and Winnies in Christchurch on November 3. Roni Size &
Reprazent’s NEW FORMS album was one of the definitive albums of the 90's,
fighting off the Spice Girls, The Prodigy, Suede, Radiohead, Primal Scream and
The Chemical Brothers to win the 1997 Mercury Music Prize and going on to sell
300,000 units in the UK.
Having debuted the NEW
FORMS 20th anniversary show earlier this year in the UK and also
at Moovin’ Festival and The Downs,Size combines live instrument and hardware features with state of the art production
and 3D effect projection mapping in the form of the ‘light box’.
A talented line-up of acts will open the New Zealand shows, including Tali who will be
support in Auckland alongside Rhyas and Cyrus.
The internationally-renowned Tali made a name for herself working with some of the biggest names in the business,
including Size who signed her to his Full
Cycle imprint in 2004. Tali has gone on to release six studio albums, including the critically-acclaimed WOLVES in 2015 and her
collaborative EP KETA in 2016.
Chiccoreli will also support the Auckland show. Originally from London, UK, Chiccoreli has played
some of New Zealand’s biggest festivals, from Rhythm & Vines and Northern
Bass, to Splore and Wanderlust. You’ll also find him hosting Base FM’s ‘The
Liquid Lowdown’ radio show on a Monday night.
Other supports include D-Erb,
Pylonz, Insomniac and Tucker XL in Christchurch; Drop, Bloq and Rhythmatix in Wellington and Stubacca and Just Cause in Queenstown.
