It’s two in a row... back-to-back #1 singles for Deceptikonz member Savage who goes where few have been as he gains his second #1, and the second local #1 single of the year, and in doing so gives his label Dawn Raid their third #1 in the space of seven months.
“I have a commanding sound when I get on the mic, I get people’s attention,” says Savage.
Which is proving to be true of 'Moonshine', going straight in at #1. It is the title track to his debut solo set 'Moonshine', which drops April 11, and features American vocalist Akon.
It gives Akon his first New Zealand #1, though his collaboration with P-Money ('Keep On Calling') topped the RadioScope 100 (and is currently #36 on this week’s Singles Chart). Savage has himself featured on a mix of Akon’s 'Locked Up'.
And in one other connection, the videos for both 'Moonshine' and 'Locked Up' were directed by Kal Crawford.
