The crème de la crème of
pianos arrives in New Zealand on April 11 when Steinway & Sons, manufacturer of the
world’s finest pianos, introduces the company’s most significant product
innovation in over 70 years. Steinway Spirio is the world's finest player piano system available
exclusively on select Steinway grand pianos through Lewis Eady Ltd. With the
two models valued at a cool $225,000 & $270,000 these self-playing instruments are New
Zealand’s most expensive pianos.
The Spirio is
the latest luxury toy to bring joy to those who appreciate fine music in New
Zealand. A masterpiece of artistry and engineering, Spirio pianos enable the
listener to lose themselves in magnificent
pre-recorded performances played with nuance, power and
passion. Spirio is utterly
indistinguishable from live performance.
“Buying a piano does not
have to mean waiting for a pianist to play it at home. It’s a major leap, a
milestone - with superb craftsmanship.”
— Lang Lang | Steinway Artist & Steinway Spirio Ambassador

Internationally acclaimed New Zealand pianist Jason Bae is in town to perform
at a Steinway Spirio launch event on Wednesday 11th April at the Orange
Coronation Hall.
Bae is a big deal. One of only three New Zealand Steinway Artists, he recorded
Puccini/Mikhashoff’s ‘Portrait of Madame Butterfly’, Britten/Stevenson’s –
‘Peter Grimes Fantasy’, and Rachmaninov’s ‘Moment Musicaux No.4 Op.16’ for the
Spirio system at Steinway Piano Gallery, New York. This was an incredible
experience for the young pianist.
Bae’s performances join a catalogue of entirely new music, featuring a massive
roster of Steinway Artists performing a wide range of genres. All pieces in the
catalogue are recorded, edited and released in high-resolution, using a
proprietary data format that captures the very finest details of each artist’s
performance. As of now, there are over 1700 hours of music in the Spirio
collection. As new music becomes available, they are automatically added, ready
to enjoy.
“Steinway Spirio connects the listener and the artist as only the world’s finest piano can,” said Darren Marshall, Chief Marketing Officer for Steinway & Sons. “Steinway Spirio technology has been engineered to meet our highest standards while creating a truly unique listening experience for all music enthusiasts, regardless of their own piano playing skills.”
Not only is Spirio able to reperform artists’ live performances, its unique technology enables it to simultaneously play the music with the performance video on the dedicated iPad app, producing a comprehensive live experience.
