Kiwi singer-songwriter Neil Finn will perform at an exclusive pre-Academy Awards dinner on Friday March 22 at The Beverly Hills Hotel in Los Angeles.
This event marks the 25th anniversary of modern feature film making in New Zealand, beginning with Roger Donaldson’s Sleeping Dogs, and is a fitting prelude to the 74th Academy Awards - where New Zealand is celebrating an unprecedented 14 Academy Award nominations including Russell Crowe for Best Actor and the 13 nods for The Lord of the Rings.
Best Supporting Actor Nominee Sir Ian McKellen and other nominees from
The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring ˆ including multi-award-winning director Peter Jackson - are two of the evening’s distinguished speakers.
Other Kiwis to be recognized include: Andrew Adamson (co-director Shrek) and The Lord of the Rings writers Fran Walsh and Philippa Boyens.

Cabinet Minister Pete Hodgson, the event will proudly profile New
Zealand’s creative talent, achievements and potential. This already has been highlighted by features such as The Lord of the Rings, The Piano, Once Were Warriors, Heavenly Creatures and Vertical Limit, as well as the hit television series Xena: Warrior Princess and Hercules.
