The Miltones return with new single 'Disappear' and announce mini tour

17 May 2018 - 0 Comments

The Miltones return June 4 with the release of their new single Disappear, the bands first new song since releasing their award-winning debut album. Praised as the freshest sound in New Zealand popular music right now” (New Zealand Herald) the band was recognised at the Taite Music Prize awards last month winning the Auckland Live Best Independent Debut award.

Disappear is a soulful ballad that “tells a tale of being caught in the same monotony of a loveless relationship,” says Milly Tabak, lead singer. “If you’ve ever been in a place where you’ve wanted change but felt stuck, you will relate.”

Friday 8th June - Blue Smoke / Christchurch
Saturday 16th June - Rogue and Vagabond / Wellington
Friday 22nd June - Point Chev RSA / Auckland

Tickets Available from undertheradar.co.nz

The bluesy Americana folk-rock sounds of Auckland quintet The Miltones have been sending ripples through New Zealand since their inception as a duo in 2014. After opening for Jamie Lawson and The Mick Fleetwood Blues Band in 2016 the band began to sense bigger things were yet to come and went to Lyttelton to record their self-titled debut album with Ben Edwards. (Nadia Reid , Aldous Harding, Marlon Williams, Tami Neilson ). Their highly anticipated album released in 2017, which the New Zealand Listener awarded 4.5/5 and the NZ Herald dubbed: “the freshest sound in New Zealand popular music right now”. July 22nd saw the wrap up of their first nation wide tour, which resulted in up-sizing venues to accommodate ticket sales and a sold-out show at Auckland's Tuning Fork.

2018 took off with a roar as lead singer Milly Tabak was selected to attend Folk Alliance International conference in Kansas City by the NZ Music Commission.  It also marked the Miltones summer festival debut with a massive double slot at the lauded WOMAD festival in Taranaki drawing over 3000 people to their performance which left attendees wanting more and emptying the merch table. Other notable performances were opening for The Teskey Brothers New Zealand Tour and March Fest in Nelson. Most recently, the band was recently recognised at the Taite Music Awards last month winning the Auckland Live Best Independent Debut Award.

“This is a band that clearly thrives on playing live, and they do it damn well. Their enthusiasm and joy is infectious, sweeping over the crowd as smoothly as their sweet, soulful sounds. This was hands down the most enthusiastic crowd I have seen to date at The Tuning Fork...If there is one band that should feature on your ‘must see’ list, it is The Miltones – they are certainly destined for great things!” - Bridget Herlihy - Ambient Light

“This is a woman who isn’t afraid to take charge of the stage and keep the audience engaged and a lot of fellow Kiwi musicians would be wise to check out her stage persona and adjust accordingly...An hour and ten minutes after it started it was all over, but the energy was still in the room, with fans buzzing, eager to crowd around the merch table and hang with the band. The evening was pure joy from beginning to end” - Marty Duda - 13th Floor
