Music News - Independent Music New Zealand Announces New Board

Independent Music New Zealand, the association of New Zealand-owned record labels, has announced its new Board for 2005.
At IMNZ’s AGM, it was declared that Bernie Griffen had once again been voted in as chair, a position he has held since IMNZ began in 2001. The other seven board members who were elected are Callum August of Dirty Records, Murray Cammick of Wildside Records, Gareth Farry of Sugarlicks Records, Brent Gleave of Capitalrecordings, Mark Kneebone of Tardus Music, Jim Pinckney of Round Trip Mars and Jay Wahid of Mai Music.
“I’m excited about the new board, it’s a good diverse group”, says IMNZ Chair Bernie Griffen. “We’ve made a lot of progress in the last few years, thanks to the efforts of the previous boards, and it looks like we’ll be making more progress this year.”
Both Griffen and Wildside’s Murray Cammick have been board members of IMNZ since its inception, and all apart from Brent Gleave of Wellington label Capitalrecordings and Mai Music’s Jay Wahid have been IMNZ board members at a previous time.
Independent Music New Zealand is the advocate for New Zealand-owned record companies, and currently has an impressive 49 member labels; which means that its members are responsible for the vast majority of New Zealand music which is released.
Amongst IMNZ’s achievements is the creation of a chart tracking the top-selling independent New Zealand albums.
