Satellite Media and Dawn Raid Entertainment are proud to announce the re-launch of New Zealand Hip Hop magazine Back2Basics.
Satellite Media currently produce New Zealand’s own Top Of The Pops, Coke Countdown and Coke New Releases in addition to publishing the country’s longest running music magazine Rip It Up. Dawn Raid are the founders of NZ’s biggest Hip Hop company and together with Satellite believe that Back2Basics is the only publication that represents the local Hip Hop culture and as such deserves to continue.
Andy Murnane CEO of Dawn Raid Entertainment explains the partnership “Having watched the amazing success Satellite Media achieved in revitalising RIP IT UP magazine, we felt it was a perfect opportunity to form a dynamic partnership co-publish the magazine”. “This new dynamic partnership allows us to use the publishing expertise & wisdom of the Rip It Up team and the extensive Hip Hop knowledge base of Dawn Raid Entertainment and its affiliated partners”
Back2Basics will be re-launched with a fresh look and feel and most importantly a new editor in the form of local Hip Hop legend DJ Sir-Vere. Unless you have been hiding under a rock Sir-Vere should need no introduction. He is a pioneer of local Hip Hop with projects ranging from the original ‘True School Hip Hop Show’, through to the Holla Hour on C4. He is co-founder of the Aotearoa Hip Hop Summit and has sold over 100,000 albums including the hugely successful Major Flavours series.
Dawn Raid are extremely excited about DJ Sirvere’s appointment as Editor & Chief ‘his continued support & nurturing of the local market and Hip Hop culture at large is unparalleled, he is a key element in the new look magazine”
Sir-Vere himself is equally excited at the prospect
"The foundations for this magazine are already in place and I bring to the table over 15 years experience in the Hip Hop community. By joining forces with Satellite Media who are already successful in the magazine realm, we can take Back2Basics to the next level.
Drawing from my extensive networks throughout the New Zealand hip-hop and R'n'B scene we will be looking for in depth coverage of upcoming talent and established artists. Also through my overseas connections we will cover and connect with the international scene. We will be looking to place further emphasis on Hip Hop lifestyle and fashion. As a longtime contributor to various magazines and all facets of Hip Hop I am thrilled and excited to be helming a project with such infinite potential. We are looking forward to the future of Back2Basics!"
Back2Basics launches on September 1st and will be available where all good magazines are sold.
