Music News - Frills release new single, ‘Drunk Girls, Drunk Boys’
03 August 2018 - 0 Comments
Kiwi
duo Frills are
back with another groove-laden jam,
Drunk
Girls, Drunk Boys.
Effortlessly cool,
Drunk
Girls, Drunk Boys is a woozy feel-good tune, with
falsetto-laced vocals over an infectious beat, and jangly guitars and synths.
It’s yet another winning track from Frills,
which is made up of Kiwi music stalwarts Simon Oscroft (
Midnight Youth, MOTHXR)
and Dan Gibson (Streets
of Laredo,
Kingston).
Their singles, including
My
Love,
Magic Tide and
She’s
Got Love, have received major love from Spotify and Kiwi indie
radio station, Hauraki. They also received praise from critics both in New
Zealand and the US.
“The party-ready cut 'She's
Got Love' is full of colorful synthesizers, phased Tame Impala-esque
guitars... the vocals that young Gibson projects to the front. If you're
looking for a summer steamer then you may be sniffin' the right scent” -
Sniffers
“The infectious chorus,
memorable vocal parts, and solid production they use give [Magic Tide] enough
appeal. It's perfect for summer” - HillyDilly
The video for
She’s Got Love also
premiered on Australian music site Tone
Deaf. Watch
here.
Frills was
conceived in a studio in a Brooklyn bedroom where longtime songwriting
collaborators Oscroft and Gibson began messing around with some GarageBand
beats.
