On the 19th August 1998, 20 years ago, Pitch Black released their debut album Futureproof on Kog Transmissions.
Hailed as "deeply impressive" (Weekend Herald), "exquisitely produced" (The Press) and "gob-smacking... aural heaven" (Sunday Times), the album was also described as setting "a new benchmark by which all future local electronica releases will be measured" (Pavement, RIP).
To celebrate the anniversary, Mike and Paddy dug into the archives of their live shows from the time, and, after listening to hours and hours of DAT tapes, have selected a live version of each of the tracks from the album. They also found a recording of a track they never released, Error, and a half hour long jam of Soliton, which they'd recorded in Incubator Studios during the week they holed up there to make the album.

As they have just begun the development of their next album, they have no live shows in NZ planned, but will be playing in London on Thursday 18th October at The Sebright Arms to explore some of their new songs in the live environment, a hark back to how Futureproof was developed 20 years ago.
