Singer and songwriter Helen Corry releases her debut EP, Later For The Real Show, on Friday October 5.
One of the most recognisable voices in the Kiwi dance scene, with countless features and collaborations to her name, Later For The Real Show is a significant milestone in Corry’s career as it is the first official body of solo work she has released.
"I'm so excited to release a body of work that reflects me in this moment,” says Corry of the upcoming EP release.
“These are songs that I love to perform. They capture a snapshot of my curiosities, what I’m passionate about and what challenges me."
The five track EP contains the already released hit singles Strike, La Femme and The Power, which all received radio play on New Zealand’s premier dance station George FM.
La Femme - a politically-charged anthem, which draws inspiration from the #metoo movement - sparked media headlines when the video, featuring dancers wearing body paint, saw the Kiwi artist banned from Facebook. It triggered an avalanche of support from around the world for Corry, with Facebook eventually reinstating her artist page.
Later For The Real Show also includes the new tracks End of the Night - an upbeat, feel-good party anthem; and the warm and nostalgic ’Waiting’.
Corry has maintained a constant presence on the New Zealand live music scene, playing frequently at some of the country’s biggest festivals including Rhythm and Vines, Homegrown, and Synthony. Aside from her solo work, she has collaborated with dance acts such as Chores, Jetski Safari and Stack and Piece.
