NZ root reggae rockers Katchafire have been nominated for two NZ Music Awards – ‘Best Roots Artist’ and ‘Best Maori Artist’ – off the back of the release of their 5th studio album Legacy in June. The 2018 Vodafone New Zealand Music Awards take place in Auckland on November 15. Katchafire have proudly repped NZ roots music around the world for the past 20 years, and were also honoured earlier in 2018 with a nomination for Best Group at the Island Music Awards in Hawaii.
A fan favourite track from the Legacy album, 100 will officially be released as a single with a new video on October 5. The song has been receiving radio airplay and has hit the NZ Hot Singles Chart + Shazam charts over the past few weeks. The ‘100’ video will have its broadcast premiere on MTV NZ RnB Block (5 Oct - 8.30am) and online premiere on Top Shelf Reggae website in the US.
Speaking about 100 singer Logan Bell said “it’s a song about real subject matter; about missing home, about our lifestyle. It focusses on mums, and wives and grandmothers and it’s a tribute to the ladies in your life that create life and give life…”
Katchafire’s Australia 2018 Legacy Love Today Tour with Jamaican band EarthKry has had a change in venue in Hillarys WA – from the Northshore Tavern to Bar1 Nightclub, with local WA artists Jah Wisdom & DJ Illicit. Doors open 8pm. Tickets already purchased remain valid for the new venue.
