Sonorous 2019 - Line-Up Announced

04 October 2018 - 0 Comments

New Zealand’s premiere house and techno-focused festival, Sonorous, is back! Returning for its second year, the one-day extravaganza will be held on the Sunday of Auckland Anniversary Weekend, January 27, at Matakana Country Park, just outside of Auckland.

The carefully curated line-up includes some of the biggest names in underground music and another exciting headliner, who is still to be revealed.

Featured in the first line-up announcement is Brazilian born, Germany residing DJ/producer Victor Ruiz - A hard-hitting, real techno artist. From the depths of the carioca electronic music scene - specifically São Paulo - emerges a frank and authentic artist. They say that his techno sound has finally found it's more seductive side, compared to artists like Maceo Plex. Over time Victor Ruiz has grown, not only his production skills but also in his sets, a breath of fresh air to the listener. Victor Ruiz "when Techno-House is elastic, energetic and served straight from the soul."

He’s joined by internationally renowned D-Nox, well known for his work with his long-time musical partner Beckers and has recently come back into the spotlight with his work alongside Victor Ruiz as witnessed with their collaboration 'Arise' on Hernan Cattaneo’s Sudbeat. His famed DJ sets cover the whole spectrum of electronic music.

Dutch producer, DJ and composer Eelke Kleijn earned his stripes producing as M.I.D.O.R. & Six4Eight, owning and operating his own label Days Like Nights as well as releases and performances with Ultra Music plus productions on movies such as Wrath of the Titansand Transporter. After successful shows in NZ earlier this year, many people will be excited to see him return.

Spanish DJ/Producer Miguel Bastida’s name can be found at the world’s best clubs, festivals and parties as well as his own music constantly charting on Beatport. Miguel has delivered more than once in Auckland and is guaranteed to impress with deep, heavy and energetic sets.

In 2011 Berlin DJ Wankelmut's bootleg remix of Asaf Avidan, under the name 'Reckoning Song / One day' conquered the charts and according to the Media Control Single Charts, reached 1st place, and double platinum status in Germany. The legendary remix was placed number one on the Single Charts in eight European countries. It was the most downloaded track of Beatport 2012 and an Airplay hit all over Europe. Looking back, 1,5 million singles were sold, and it was played 170+ million times on Youtube. Not to mention classic rework 'My Head Is A Jungle' accumulating millions of streams and plays worldwide.

Other dance legends on the bill include Greg Churchill, Dick Johnson, Heylady and Out of Sorts (Antix & Fiord), brothers Bevan & Hayden Keys with further strong local support from K2K and Sam Lovli, with more to still be announced.

Sonorous is again being held at the stunning location of Matakana Country Park, just a 45-minute drive north of Auckland. And with the festival falling on the long weekend, it promises to be one of the summer highlights of January 2019.
