Music News - Ashbridge Says Farewell FMR NZ

19 July 2005 - 0 Comments

Festival Mushroom Records NZ is saddened to announce the resignation of Managing Director Mark Ashbridge. Ashbridge leaves to take up a position with Warner Music Australia as Vice President Of Marketing and Promotion based in Sydney. He starts mid-August.

“It is an opportunity too good to not have a crack at, though that’s tempered with a large degree of melancholy. Simply put my five plus years with FMR have been the most rewarding of my career to date; I shall especially miss the thrill of helping establish music careers for FMRs’ New Zealand acts both here and abroad” Ashbridge said.

Commented Michael Parisi, FMR Australia’s Managing Director, “On behalf of FMR Australasia, I'd like to take this opportunity to thank Asha for his contribution to our company. FMR NZ has, in his time, continued to be one of the shining lights of the NZ music scene. His commitment to domestic artists has seen the rise of such great acts as Scribe, Carly Binding, The D4 and King Kapisi just to name a few. I know the artists and his staff will sorely miss him! I know I will...and so will the many friends he has made here in Australia both inside and outside the company”.

Going forward, Ashbridge has entrusted the reins to a management team comprising Darryl Parker, Jonathan Hughes and Ashley Page who will report directly to Michael Parisi. Ash will stay with FMR until August 12 to ensure the transition is a smooth one and that business continues as ever.

“There’s plenty to be done, though we’ve deliberately built a solid management structure here over the last five years and the team that will manage New Zealand are on to it” said Ash poignantly.

“He was away all last week and we seemed to be OK” said Jonathan Hughes, “and with new albums coming from Sola Rosa, David Yetton, King Kapisi, Frontline and Carly Binding, all before Christmas, we’ve got plenty to be getting along with” echoed Ashley Page. “Hear hear” stated Darryl Parker, in doing so providing a blinding example of the strength of the new team.

The entire team at FMR NZ extends their best wishes to Ash, Cath, Stella, Lucie and Jimmy Ashbridge. We’ll miss you. A bit.
