Frenetic kiwi garage outfit, Spawts have today shared a weighty new track with the world. Blue Light Devil  dives headfirst into a heady, late night lethargy, backed by lush, discordant waves of guitar and the propulsive, driving feel of Hannah’s drumming. Ormandy’s apathetic delivery of the lyrics suggest a false sense of  comfort, despite the affliction of cerebral white noise.

Mixed and mastered by long-time collaborator Stephen John Marr, this is the first glimpse of new music from the Auckland dwellers since last year’s collaborative EP with Two Cartoons.

Spawts is consisted of Kieran Ormandy (Vocals, guitar) and Jamie Hannah (Drums), who are joined live by Isaac McFarlane (Bass) and Brad Craig (Guitar).

Formed in mid 2015, in Christchurch, Spawts produced a raw debut EP, pulling influences from energetic, guitar bands like Cloud Nothings, Sonic Youth and Rackets to Foals. Hannah and Ormandy extended their propulsive, guitar driven tunes into the live scene of Auckland city, having recently supported Nashville garage-pop darlings, Bully during their recent tour of New Zealand, opening their Auckland Whammy show.

In early 2016, the band released their debut self-titled EP, which struck a strong musical statement for the follow up which would be released only months later in Big Fresh Corner, Milky Way. They took on Two Cartoons last year with a split single EP, releasing a one off hair raiser Weatherbomb.
