Dunedin born, Auckland based producer MISSY (Abigail Knudson) shares the bold follow up to her self-titled debut single released on independent New Zealand label Black Lotus. In Hate Me, Knudson explores the depths of a fragmented, co-dependent relationship in a dark, twisted cacophony of sound bites and eclectic samplings - a cornerstone of her experimentative production style.
Watch the official music video for Hate Me featuring dancers Gemma-Jayde Naidoo and Rosie Tapsel. The video was shot by Gal Hochnan, edited by Dan Hart, and assisted by Director of Photography Alexander Campbell of Allegory Films.

Knudson was recently selected for this year’s SongHubs Sphere initiative, facilitated by APRA AMCOS, which teamed together a curated group of female identifying artists and producers up with prominent figures in the international music industry as part of the Suffrage 125 programme of events. In a week long programme, Knudson worked alongside Bic Runga, Chelsea Jade, Fazerdaze (Amelia Murray), Anna Coddington, Angel Tairua and Coco Solid with a number of international specialists including Susan Rogers and Wendy Wang.
The classically trained artist is in a lane of her own, blending her years of formal training in cello and choral studies with a contemporary means of composition and production under the moniker, MISSY. The self-taught producer has a growing reputation for her unique skills and ideas behind the desk, working with a number of other local artists under the Full Circuit family of labels including CECILY, Kurisu, Carlos Barnett, and outside of the Full Circuit house: ELCEE, Unchained XL and Cohle Harris.
Artistically, Knudson explores ideas and subjects which are at turns sweet and confronting - real and affecting. Johannes Brahms, Lana Del Ray and Kanye West are seemingly disparate touchstones that underlie Missy’s unique sound. The results form a melodramatic aural mélange and marks MISSY out as one the country’s most exciting new talents.
