Former RIANZ and Sony Music boss Michael Glading is to take over the reins of the Music Performance Committee, overseeing progress made under the RBA's voluntary local content code programme.
He replaces Joan Withers who recently took on a new full-time role as CEO of the Fairfax publishing group and had chaired the committee since its inception in 2002.
Representatives from the RBA, RIANZ, NZ On Air, Music Industry Commission, IMNZ, music retail, the Musicians Union and MedianStrip's RadioScope data collection service make up the group.
Under the Code, RBA member stations pledged to reach a minimum overall content rate of 20 per cent New Zealand music by the end of 2006. With a year to go, that target is already consistently superceded in the weekly tracking stats.
