Laneway Auckland Update: 0800-Laneway Helpline Returns, Food Outlets Confirmed

20 December 2018 - 0 Comments

St. Jerome’s Laneway Festival New Zealand returns to the lush surrounds of gorgeous Albert Park in just under six weeks’ time, to celebrate its 10th Anniversary on Monday 28th January, Auckland Anniversary Day.

For the second year in a row, we’re proud to bring back 0800-LANEWAY, a help-line created for festival goers to call or text if you witness or experience unsafe and unwelcome behaviour while enjoying the festival. The hotline was inspired by Camp Cope’s It Takes One campaign, raising awareness around harassment at gigs and festivals.

At any-time during the event, just call 0800-LANEWAY (0800-5263-929) for assistance. Local text lines will be updated on our website and sign-posted at the event. Stay tuned for more messages from our 0800-LANEWAY ambassadors in the new year. Find out more here.

Another initiative of great importance to Laneway, is the continued drive to find ways to reduce the amount of waste generated by making real changes to minimise rubbish and deal with what is produced in a more sustainable way.

For 2019, Laneway will focus on our aim to reduce waste and work through our recycling options with a plan that works towards zero waste targets. With this in mind our innovative foodies are all committed to as much compostable material in their packaging as possible. Our waste management plan will provide receptacles exclusively for compostable material and be taken from site to a compost yard as opposed to landfill site. Here’s to everyone working towards best practice waste reduction, collectively and innovatively!

Auckland’s favourite Summer festival will once again delight the discerning taste-buds of music fans with an impressive array of the best in food and drink selections as the perfect complement to the incredible artists performing. Offering an unparalleled variety of delicious restaurant and street food outlets for all tastes and diets, festival goers can experience the exotic flavours of Asia, Europe, South America and the Mediterranean, fulfil any vegan, gluten, or dairy free requirements, or go with the old school classics of hot chips, hot dogs and perennial festival favourite, candy floss.

A new and exciting culinary treat is on offer this year, as Laneway welcomes the famed, iconic restaurant CAZADOR, as well as the gloriously tasty bowls of HA! POKE and Filipino food masters HAPUNAN to the site for the first time while old favourites CHE LUCIO BBQ, LANGOS, FATIMAS and LORD OF THE FRIES, return to fulfil their place as festival stalwarts.

In 2019, the Laneway food game has definitely hit new highs with the addition of specially prepared Cazador luxury picnic hampers, available by pre-order only*, and strictly limited in supply. Each hamper includes a selection of premium charcuterie, all made from sustainable meat including parfait, terrine, salami and rillettes. These delights are accompanied by home-made crackers, pickles and preserves and served with fresh bread from Daily Bread, local cheese, a leaf salad and a dessert of Cazador's dark chocolate mousse with candied orange and toasted pistachios. You’ll also score tokens to collect our suggested beer match from Sawmill, and a beautiful, bespoke woven basket with a picnic throw for keeps made in collaboration with Companion Design. Outrageously fantastic!

For those that are looking for something on the run, there will also be a special appearance by Cazadogs – the now infamous Cazador pop up hotdog stand, serving it’s gourmet game dogs which are only available in small quantities and always sell out within hours of the gates opening!

But of course, there’s more and situated throughout Albert Park you will find bars – including the romantic setting of the wine bar, our very special Craft bar serving some interesting lines from Sawmill and Zeffer cider, free filtered water stations and many mouth-wateringly good food trucks and pop up food stands including plenty of vegan and gluten free options for those that need them.
