After the release of two beautifully crafted standalone singles, Satellites and Have To Change, Taupo-based songwriter Dan Sharp is proud to release his 5-track EP, Slack Tide, which will be followed by a nationwide tour.
After self producing and releasing his first batch of music, Dan sought out the skill set of award-winning producer and artist, Thomas Oliver. Their first collaboration in Wellington resulted in his single Lifeline, and the two reconnected in Berlin to continue where they left off.
"With only 5 songs, we wanted to bring something different to each track, start small and end big. There are a range of influences packed in there, from the stripped back, bluesy intro, to the full, gritty, gospel-infused pop track that closes out the EP. Some songs are comfortable and warm, others colder and more confronting" - Dan Sharp
The concept of a slack tide, the rare calm between changing tides, resonated strongly with Dan. From leaving his corporate career in 2016, temporarily settling in Taupo, to now planning a shift abroad, Slack Tide represents the delicate balance between comfort and the struggles he has faced.
