Today, kiwi garage rock outfit Spawts share new single Heresy. Written in the band’s grungy, weatherboard Mt Wellington flat, and brought to life on the outskirts of Auckland at a mate’s place in Waiuku, the track was recorded by Nick Moyle with mixing and mastering by much-loved Dunedin based producer and engineer, Stephen John Marr (Kane Strang, Doprah, Ben Woods, Astro Children).
There is a sense of aural discontent and angst riding in the track, representing millennial nihilism towards the capitalist structures around us and exploring finality and getting older in the context of atheism.
“Terraforming to please, discontent breeds and feeds, there’s a place that you go in the end, you’re returned to the ground like a trend.”
Spawts is consisted of Kieran Ormandy (Vocals, guitar) and Jamie Hannah (Drums), who are joined live by Isaac McFarlane (Bass) and Brad Craig (Guitar).
