Northern Bass 19/20 is on a roll with tickets rushing out the door and even more incredible acts announced to join the already impressive line-up.
There’s no bigger icon in the Drum & Bass world than Andy C, and we’re stoked to have him back for Northern Bass to perform with MC Tonn Piper. Metalheadz is one of the most influential labels of the genre, and label founder Goldie will team up with label mates Lenzman, Ulterior Motive and Ant TC1 for a very special 25th birthday celebration on New Year’s Eve. In something special for the Hip Hop fans, Wu-Tang Clan legend Ghostface Killah makes a welcome return to Northern Bass after an unbelievable 2014/5 set.
Drum & Bass Godfathers Fabio & Grooverider join the line-up, along with Technimatic, who visit us in support of their 10th anniversary album Through the Hours. Harriet Jaxxon is at the forefront of the new wave of DnB and hits this part of the world for the first time, alongside Manchester DJ, label head and club impresario Madam X. Shigeto brings his vividly beautiful genre-spanning music back to New Zealand following the release of his latest EP Versions last month, rising Kiwi electronic stars Sachi make their festival debut, and local DnB icon Trei teams up with JabZ MC.
Always the king of the party, DJ Jazzy Jeff heads to the festival for the first time. New Zealand’s own hip hop wunderkinds Church & AP return for a second year running with their live show that gets better every time you see them, with Hamilton’s hometown hero Raiza Biza and the queen of Kiwi dancehall Silva MC.
Northern Bass stages are always packed with the Kiwi producers and DJ's you love and new ones to discover. Today’s announcement wouldn’t be complete without a selection of the finest local acts including Optimus Gryme, Aroha, IllBaz, Hamish & Rangi, Benny Boy, Sly Chaos and Lew + Ro.
Festival Director Gareth Popham says that the ninth edition of the Mangawhai countryside festival is shaping up to be the best yet.
"Every year we work hard to put together a great Northern Bass experience and with record sales so far this year we seem to really have hit our stride in the busy NZ festival season.
"New Year's Eve will be particularly special this year, from celebrating 25 years deep for the legendary Metalheadz crew, to hosting one of the last ever performances by Northern Bass favourites Foreign Beggars - and of course, Fat Freddy's Drop sets are always a summer highlight."
