St. Jerome’s Laneway Festival 2020 Announce New Stage

24 October 2019 - 0 Comments

Surprising. Mysterious. Legendary. These are the words that describe both Alfredo Cerdo, the namesake of Laneway's newest stage, Alfredo's Dance Tunnel, and the experience you can expect when some of the country and the world's most exciting new electronic talent hit Laneway Auckland in 2020.

Alfredo, Melbourne icon and long-time friend of the original St Jerome's Bar, was a regular presence in the early days of the Laneway Festival. He was a Mr Fix-It, a regular MacGyver, who would often appear out of nowhere to solve all your problems and guarantee a great show.

It is in this spirit that the Laneway Festival presents the new dedicated dance stage: Alfredo’s Dance Tunnel, featuring scene-leading local dance parties alongside some world-class talent putting some doof into your favourite day in the park. Read on for the full line-up.

KEDR LIVANSKIY

One of the world’s most exciting young DJs - Kedr Livanskiy’s second album, Your Need, is a celebration of life and rebirth, making waves across the music world. Pitchfork 7.2 “make you wish it never had to end” and The Guardian 4**** “a DJ, producer and singer whose shoegaze-y electronic music sounds as if it has arrived in a time capsule from a retro-futurist era.”

Livanskiy was born in 1990 and grew up in the years immediately following the dissolution of the Soviet Union. As a child she split her time between Moscow and a village where her grandmother lived. Yet despite moving frequently between the two contrasting landscapes, she says, I dont remember anything related to the city. All my memories [are of the] village, nature and [my] grandmother. Its an odd paradox, to remember one place but not the other, but it might explain why Livanskiys music has an unusually restless quality that references both past and present trends in electronic music.

“Kedr Livanskiy’s euphoric music is an electronic fairy tale” - iD Magazine review HERE

FILTH AKL

Filth AKL is an experience. a freedom. a feeling. a heaven and a haven. or hell if you’re that way inclined. an intersection. an event. an occasion. a build-up and pay off. a time to share, to shed, to shazam. a moment to move, to make, to mend yourself. a collective of likeminded angels. a room of likeminded devils. a worldly soundtrack of world-shaking bass. a club-night started in November 2018, ignited in the 90s. a designated space for QPOC, women and non-binary darlings. a lifetime of expression explored. a decolonisation of the dancefloor.
