Music News - PunkAs.com 2005 Award Winners Announced

PunkAs.com, the home of New Zealand punk, ska and hardcore music on the web, are proud to announce the winners of their annual 'best of the year' awards to celebrate the best in Kiwi and international genre music over 2005.

In a public vote by the thousands of regular visitors to the site, nominations were made in a number of categories and a second round of voting then determined the overall winners in each.

The category winners were:

Band of the Year

Sommerset

International Band of the Year

Motorhead

Best NZ Release

Kitsch - 'The Burning Ground'

Best International Release

Turbonegro - 'Party Animals'

Best NZ Live Act

The Bleeders

Best New Band

Cobra Khan

Show of the Year

Sommerset Final Show @ King's Arms Tavern, Auckland

Sex Symbol of the Year

Fleur Parker (Foamy Ed)
