This week on COAST we have a heavy-weight hip hop special for your listening and viewing pleasure! First up back on the show Chong Nee drops in to liven up your night by performing his hit track ‘Scenarios’, as well as new single ‘What’s Mine Is Mine’, featuring Usouljah. He is one of New Zealand’s most
in-demand Hip Hop & RnB producers, with production credits over the years with such artists as Che Fu, Dei Hamo (with whom he co-wrote NZ’s biggest selling single of 2004 ‘We Gon Ride’), Dave Dobbyn, AKA Brown, Deceptikonz and Ben Lummis to name a few. While the past couple of years have been big for John Chong Nee, 2006 promises to be huge with the delivery of his solo album in May – look out for it!
Also live on the show, and also releasing an album in the near future, is Definite & Bling. Known for their big singles ‘Jump Up’ and ‘Damn’, DJ Definite (Brent Strathdee) and MC Bling (KMS a.k.a Khalid Mohammed el Sharif) played support to hip-hop legends De La Soul over the weekend just
been, and will be on COAST hyping the release of their debut album ‘Flavourism’ with a 3-song medley of new tracks.
But wait – there’s more! We have interviews with P.O.D (who have just completed 4 big shows here for Edgefest) and also music maestro Warren Maxwell talks about crayfish and his new project Little Bushmen. Plus CD packs to win, and also tickets to new graphic-novel-film flick V For Vendetta, and we play the new Bic Runga clip.
The final bit in the puzzle though is live performances from Breakin Wreckwordz label mates Louie Knuxx and Cyphanetik. Delinquent MC and general hiphop enthusiast Louie Knuxx gathered an army of the best for his full-length street debut album ‘WASTED YOUTH’, which was released last
month, and he’ll be dropping one track featuring Astra and Rock Speesy, while Cyphanetik delivers the first single from his upcoming album, due out in June.

COAST is now pre-recorded on a Wednesday night. The studio still has an open-door policy, so if anyone wants to come down and see the show being recorded, whilst getting up close with all the musos and our choice hosts, head on down anytime after 8.30pm on a Wednesday evening to the
state-of-the-art MTS studios at 9-15 Davis Cres, Newmarket and see it all unfold.
And if you can’t make it down on a Wednesday (or you did come down and now you want to check yourself out on the TV), be watching Maori Television at the new time of 9.30pm on Thursday nights.
