Hot on the heels of her October 2019 single, Never Had Love, George kickstarts the new year with the release of brand new track, My Love, another stunning cut from her forthcoming EP which is confirmed for a 27th of March release. The single has premiered on Spotify's New Music Friday AU & NZ playlist this morning.
My Love shows a different musical side to George and is a stylistic stand-out from her self-titled, five-track EP. An autobiographical ode to the end of a relationship, My Love delivers delicate layers of vocals, simmers with sparse electronica and swells to an emotional close. This is a personal release for George and is her favourite track to date.
“It paints a picture of a pivotal time in my life, from a few years back. My boyfriend and I had broken up. Being in a small town, with the same friends, it was impossible to avoid each other and to squash those emotions that would surface every time we crossed paths. I would have done anything to have my best friend back. It’s a good thing those feelings were reciprocated... four years later we got married.”
My Love has been snapped up for a single release deal with UK label, Frty Fve. Instigating a conversation via Instagram DM’s, a label rep spotted George’s success from afar and got in touch.
“The initial conversation started with one of the guys at the label. I sent them my manager’s email and told them to get in touch... then completely forgot about the message. A few months later, we had signed My Love to them!”
My Love is co-written with Ryan Mulligan (Please, Please) and recorded and produced with Abel Orta Jr in Houston TX. My Love is out now through Spotify, Apple Music and all other digital outlets.
