Swallow The Rat Release 'Bird Of Ill' + Video / Announce US Tour

28 February 2020 - 0 Comments

Tamaki Makaurau’s Swallow The Rat unleash the first single from their forthcoming album Leaving Room, the deliciously jangly-yet-ominous Bird of Ill, along with an obscure, collage-esque official video. Recorded and mixed by Nick Abbot at Northwestern (Foals, Robert Plant, Robyn), the track laments over self-loathing, addiction and relationships.

This is a song about self pity and addiction destroying a relationship. The protagonist of the story needs to stop finding excuses and take steps to improve the situation” - Stephen Horsley

After recently supporting international acts Gang of Four and Sebadoh, the band featuring members Sam Vercoe, Brian Purington, Hayden Fritchley and Stephen Horsley also announce an appearance as one of SXSW’s official artists.

Pre-orders of Leaving Room are available from Bandcamp.
