18 May 2020 - 0 Comments

The Official NZ Music Month Summit – part of a huge month of socially-distanced 20th anniversary celebrations – takes place for the first time as a digital-only event this Saturday.

Delving deep into this year’s theme, It’s All Local: Support Local, Stream Local, Follow Local, Buy Local, the Summit includes four panel sessions with industry leaders, who will share the insights and experience gained during their own journeys to find success within the music industry.

Taking place on Saturday 23 May, and live-streaming through the Music Managers Forum NZ and NZ Music Commission’s Facebook pages and YouTube channels, anyone in the NZ music industry, no matter where they are in the country, are invited to view the Summit which will commence at 10am. For those at home with their own questions on the topics of the day, there will be a chance to interact with the panellists via the live chat Q&A, with questions posed to the seminar guests answered at the end of each panel.

THE IMPORTANCE OF MERCHANDISE
Pre and post Covid-19, merchandise is a fantastic income stream for artists with more scope than ever to produce artist related items for your audience to love.

Paul Martin from Devilskin,
Devilskin are a phenomenon in New Zealand. Their Platinum selling debut album We Rise entered the NZ national album charts at Number 1 and stayed in the Top 40 for over 54 weeks. The band exploded onto the NZ rock scene with the infectious Little Pills and Never See The Light singles and was followed by the Number 1 airplay song Start A Revolution. Their relentless touring schedule has generated a swathe of brilliant live reviews from the UK, Europe and Australia.

Liz Stokes from The Beths,
The Beths’ blend of propulsive, sing-along choruses, four-part vocal arrangements, and wry, introspective lyrics has earned them fans around the world. Their 2018 debut album Future Me Hates Me drew acclaim from some of the world’s top music press, and made the shortlist for New Zealand’s 2018 Taite Music Prize. Stokes has twice been nominated for the Silver Scroll Award. In 2019, The Beths were nominated for five Vodafone New Zealand Music Awards, winning Best Group and Best Alternative Artist.
