Six Day War began to take shape back in 2000 on the North Shore of Auckland when guitarist and vocalist Chris, drummer Will and guitarist James (at that time substitute bassist) banded together to create what they love; good hard metal. Playing together and with growing familiarity over the years, a goal for the group started to emerge.
Six Day War began real work writing in their Devonport practice room through 2002 and with similar tastes, styles, and frame of mind, 6DW grew tight and developed the brutal execution they became known for.
With the addition of Gavin on the bass in early 2003, allowing James to move back to his primary position as guitarist, and moving Chris to the position of vocalist full time, the band was complete, and strode ahead with fresh intensity, focused on making waves in the NZ music scene.
With varying backgrounds such as jazz, rock, punk, metal and music production and engineering, 6DW melded together extremely well and developed their own distinctive sound.
Their aggressive style and raw energy on stage are creating a name very quickly for Six Day War as they launched themselves into NZ music. With songs like Permanent Shadow, I See Them All Dead and One For War, 6DW have been shattering the silence and playing to consistently packed audiences on The Shore and has recently fought through The Battle Of The Bands to take out the the top spot as winners at the National Finals.
Band Members:
Chris Keeling (guitars, vocals)
Gavin Raymen (bass)
Will Bellerby (drums)

SIXDAYWAR WIN NZ BATTLE OF THE BANDS!!!!! Posted: Sun Sep 28, 2003 2:31 am It all started at about 8.30pm when two buses from the Masonic Tavern in Devonport arrived, filled with screaming fans! From the moment they walked in, "SIX DAY WAR! SIX DAY WAR! SIX DAY WAR!" The crowd was now filled with dozens of fans all wearing sixdaywar t-shirts! The chanting continued between every band right up till they played. Sixdaywar were one of many metal bands who performed on the night. Although the standard was very high from all the bands, I would say sixdaywar stood out the most. I'm not saying this just because of their crowd, however, the crowd reaction was a good reaction to their musical style. The band was heavy, with great tempo changes and... the band could groove! |
