21 Guns

Bio

21 Guns formed in the Winter of 2003 after a few friends got together and started writing simple, fun and positive hardcore. They decided to move away from the more popular metal-core side of the New Zealand hardcore scene to focus on a more traditional straight up approach. 21 Guns all share a common goal of playing sincere, hard and real hardcore.

Luke Flintoff (formerly of Bare Knuckle Brawl) writes the guitar riffs whilst helping Josh Moffitt with the bass guitar. Ben Klinkenberg adds to the band on the drums and also works with Luke on the writing of songs. Ryan Jordan (also formerly of Bare Knuckle Brawl) does the vocals and occasionally helps in the writing of songs.

The sound can be best described as traditional hardcore and it comes without lead-breaks and whiney emo moans. The lyrics deal with topics from the struggles of everyday life, to the celebration of people who have stuck with what they believe to the appreciation of the local hardcore scene itself.

Influences include Madball, Death Threat, 25 ta Life, Agnostic Front, No Warning to New Zealand bands such as Evil Priest, Balance, State Of Grace and DSM.

21 Guns disbanded in 2004.
