With about half of a degree of separation in Matamata, comes a band that consists of four members who all grew up together and attended the same school. But it wasn't until early 2001 that the decision was made to scribe original music collectively. It is now that real progress has been made, as they have developed and nurtured their music into the sound of Fideleo.
Fideleo have been immersed in all styles of music, there is a vast array of influences in the band, and their writing process is certainly collaborative. The themes and concepts explore elements of Love, Death, Contentment, Discontentment, the Past, the Environment, Spirituality and Uncertainty. Fideleo have a range of songs that vary in style, but still have their distinct flavour. These songs vary from hard or soft commercial three to four minute rock songs and 12 minute journey rock songs with epic changes. Their writing is emotive, with both the changes and the lyrics promoting a connection.
The constructed sound of Fideleo can be described as a melodic groove with a slightly funky uplifting feel, which explodes with colour through its driving rifts and is often shadowed by a dark undertone. Their intention is to create climax, take the listeners on a hypnotic journey of musical expression, manipulate emotions and mix feelings.
