The deep and ecstatic tunes of Aroha’s debut EP No More Jenga assume new forms in 2021 with stunning remakes showcasing emerging talent and established stars from Australia, New Zealand and the US; rising Melbourne house and techno export Luke Alessi, liquid drum & bass royalty Tokyo Prose, NZ afro acid duo Kedu Carlo, D&B heavy hitters Monika & Akuratyde, and NZ festival favourite Bomb Dylan.
In late 2020, Aroha delivered her much anticipated debut EP, exploring the experimental elements of house, bass and post-dubstep. Receiving support worldwide including plays on Subcity Radio Glasgow, Street Sounds Radio Essex, Triple J, FBi Radio, PBS, 2RRR, Fresh FM, George FM, and Radio New Zealand.
First off the block; Luke Alessi’s hypnotic melodic house reimagining of Aroha’s L2K has already received solid support, including a play by Rufus Du Sol for their monthly Rose Avenue Radio mix which was broadcasted on SiriusXM Chill in the US, and a spin by Dutch DJ and Producer Eelke Kleijn on his Days Like Nights Radio show (110K Soundcloud followers).
Kedu Carlo’s joyous Breakbeat Baby version of L2K was premiered to over 12K viewers worldwide when they played for Serato’s Twitch live stream and has rocked festival crowds around New Zealand during the girls’ energetic live shows in their packed touring schedule.
Drum and bass also takes centre stage in this remix package, with a soulful reworking of L2K by NZ’s leading liquid drum and bass talent Tokyo Prose, and a heavy hitting roller of the EP’s title track No More Jenga by long distance collaborators Monika (NZ) and Akuratyde (US).
Rounding out the set is New Zealand rising star Bomb Dylan, who explores deeper tech house territory to spellbind late night dancers on his remix of No More Jenga.
