Reliable Recordings helped soundtrack New Zealand’s house explosion. Between 1999 and 2004, they released a string of instant club classics including Calibre ’98, Disco Hoopla and 19c Trumpet.
Across four compilations and a raft of other releases, they showcased Kiwis including Cuffy & Leon D, Soane, Subware, Greg Churchill and Roger Perry.
They welcomed those who chose to make Aotearoa home - people like Dick Johnson and Reed & Radley.
And they engineered collaborations with big-name international visitors such as Inland Knights, Joshua and Rhythm Plate.
Although loath to blow their own (19c) trumpet, they're proud that they gave some seriously talented people a chance to release music on a label run by people they danced with.
Ahead of a full Reliable reboot (including new music!!!), they're releasing their back catalogue digitally for the first time.
They've put plenty of time and lots of love into documenting what they believe to be a pivotal part of Kiwi club history. They've commissioned a history of the label and in coming weeks they'll share exclusive videos featuring many of those involved.
They've even organised a very special party to celebrate - details to come next week.
They did it for those who were there, and those who've always wished they were.
The full Reliable catalogue is now available to stream on Apple and Spotify. You can support the artists by downloading their music from Bandcamp, Beatport, Junodownload, Traxsource and more.
One generation has already fallen in love with these tunes. Now another one can do the same.
