Baby Zionov is the musical project of Aaliyah Zionov (she/her), a musician and songwriter currently based in Tāmaki Makaurau.
Baby Zionov's music takes influence from 90's happy hardcore, 70's space disco,
and vintage 16-bit video game soundtracks. She lays her playfully sensual vocals delicately throughout the mix.
Today she releases her long awaited debut album Henrietta.
Henrietta is a true cornucopia of sound, a feast of disparate influences combined into an electronic delicacy.

"This album is a love letter to the music that brought me joy," says Zionov.
"Music that captured my imagination in my formative years, when I was a gay teenage shut-in digging through the depths of Internet music fan blogs and communities all day. That sort of approach can be really interesting because you get all sorts of wonderful music from all walks of life dropped right in your lap, but you’re often totally disconnected from the time, place, and context it came from. You end up constructing your own narrative around it, an anachronistic little world to make it all fit together."
"Henrietta is my attempt to bring that world in my head to life, with the help of my wonderful, ridiculously talented collaborators and friends."
The four singles from Henrietta - PJ Princess Feat. Moody V,
Henrietta's Melancholy, Fantasy Feat. corpse-becoming-foxes and For Judy Dunaway, Mother of Balloon Music Feat. Marika Pratley gained airplay throughout
Aotearoa's Student Radio Network. Special mention must be made of PJ Princess Feat. Moody V which reached the #1 spot on SRN Top 10 following its release.
To celebrate the release of her debut album Henrietta, Baby Zionov has organised a stacked line up to perform at Whammy Backroom on July 8, featuring A. C. Freazy,
deepState plus secret special guests.
