i think that the amount of new musicians is just excellent. There is just soo much talent out there and all the people need to do is express themselves... if u good at something, make sure dat u let it out...

Be proud for our music industry k...

Nah yeah i sort of agree with u... i was just tryin to get a conversation started u kno... but i rekon that there is some real good talent... like way better than Ben Lummis coz i dont even think he is dat good and if i could choose hu won dat idol, it would be big Dave...

but u kno...

i dont feel that new zealand artists are anything special. some of them may be good (occasionally very good even) but tell me one artist from nz that has in recent years, changed the music industry, created something new and exciting?
Excellent? i think not. The Beatles were excellent, Pink Floyd, U2, Led Zep, The Who, Nirvana....etc
They all had something special, they have influenced many of todays musicians but now bands, musicians, rappers (whatever) all sound the same...unoriginal, boring...and so on. They are trying to copy the sounds that made the bands (above) so awesome, instead of being different.
so sad
also, i think i got off topic a bit, but it applies to artists here and overseas, IMO

yeah, like they make a huge deal of the datsuns and how great they are, but i honestly dont think they make "great" music

Yeah good on The Datsuns for working hard, playing music they enjoy and
being pretty successful but lets face it, these guys aint a pimple on the ass
of the classic rock bands of the 70's eg.. Deep Purple, Led Zep. No virtuous
musicianship or anything original thats for sure, but saying that a least they try to write riff rock in the classic style. Everything's been done before, it's hard to come up with something original now day's so the best you can do really is just write good songs.

NZ idol was a waste of time and money, which just creates people that will sing for about a year riding on that fame, then slowly drop off the face of the earth...

new zealand music has had its fun times with the days of the exponents and stuff and yeah man 80's music is what i live for, some of todays music is just shit, and then again it is good too..........................................

new zealand music is mass, (wicked)

better then some australian music
tho ac/dc were the idols of aus
