RIPPON TICKETS ON SALE
RIPPON OPEN AIR FESTIVAL
SATURDAY 1ST FEBRUARY, 2014
One day before tickets go on sale to Lake Wanaka's iconic Rippon Festival, organisers are gearing up to celebrate their tenth festival. Lake Wanaka SouNZ director Lynne Christie admits members of the crew used to fantasise about the thought of the festival still running in 10, 15, 20 years from when they started organising the first event back in 1997. "It's a privilege," she states, "and a testament to the people of the Aotearoa who have supported this event since last millenium." The not-for-profit Rippon Festival is New Zealand¹s longest-standing festival which promotes solely Kiwi music.
Encompassing musical genres from soul to punk, hip hop to electro, artists on the 2014 bill include Fat Freddy's Drop, Home Brew, Electric Wire Hustle, Ladi6, The Phoenix Foundation, Die! Die! Die!, Myele Manzanza & The Eclectic, Sunshine Sound System, Kody Nielson, The Digg, Some Other Planets, Brockaflowersaurus-Rex, DJ Reno, Peacekeepers, and Ria Hall. Featured on the Rippon Hall stage are Lips, Warren Maxwell, Zoe Moon, Jesse Sheehan, and Wanaka's own Danny Fairley and Martine Harding.
Electric Wire Hustle¹s Taay Ninh admits to being "so psyched" to be part of Rippon 2014, having last played on the Rippon stage in 2010. Fat Freddy's Drop manager, Nicole Duckworth, adds that all members of the Drop are "super excited about coming down to Wanaka".
Spokesperson Anna McConville reminds ticket-buyers about the GoldMember option for people who prefer a more "luxurious festival experience", as it allows access to the Rippon Hall with its own restrooms and cafe/bar.
Christie urges the public to purchase tickets only through the authorized channels to avoid disappointment on the day. The tickets, which cost $130 (with group discounts available), go on sale on Saturday September 7th through Ticketek, Café Gusto and iSite Wanaka.
