Microsoft New Zealand in association with LOOP Recordings Aot(ear)oa has announced the winner of the Rise & Shine competition. The winner is Brooke Singer of Waikuku Beach, Christchurch with her song 'More Of Me' performed by Ragga Muffin Children.
Brooke's entry was selected from over 400 entries by a panel of judges including Adi Dick from Fly My Pretties, Nick D from C4 and b-FM presenter and Mikee Tucker founder of LOOP Recordings Aot(ear)oa.
Tucker says they received an overwhelming amount of entries considering the criteria and the caliber was extremely high.
"I am so impressed with the enormous amount of musical flair out there in New Zealand. It was incredibly hard to choose just one winner. Brooke Singer's song 'More Of Me' was chosen because of an excellent song structure and beautifully crafted vocals."
Nick D was selected as one of the judges because of his vast musical knowledge and passion for the industry.
"I am honoured to be involved in a competition that drives New Zealand music and supports local talent from the grass roots. Every single entrant should be proud of the amazing work they produced."
Brooke's winning package includes:
- Airfares and accommodation for two people staying at The Duxton Hotel in Wellington.
- Two days of recording time at Trident Studios with Adi Dick and a studio engineer.
- Mixing and mastering of the song at Trident Studios.
- A Hi-End Windows Vista PC with wide-screen monitor to aid music creation and playback.
- Professional servicing of the song to New Zealand radio stations.
- An equipment voucher to the value of $2000 at The Rock Shop.
David Rayner, Windows Marketing Manager, Microsoft New Zealand comments: "We are really excited to be able to provide Brooke with a professional recording opportunity and kit her out with a brand new Windows Vista PC. Using all of its entertainment features, we hope that the winner will be able to take their talent to great heights."
"Microsoft New Zealand is a keen supporter of aspiring Kiwi musicians and we continue to work locally with partners such as LOOP to support local music and DigiRAMA to deliver a broad online music experience to New Zealanders via the vast range of music players which support the Windows Media Audio (WMA) standard."
DigiRAMA, a New Zealand owned and operated music download site, will offer free downloads of the winning track. The track will be available for download in May using Microsoft Windows Media Player, and will be free for a nominated time. Shaun Davis, Managing Director, DigiRAMA, says that he is pleased to be able to help grow New Zealand music.
"We are a download site based in New Zealand developed by Kiwis for Kiwis and are one hundred percent focused on the New Zealand market. We are proud to help support local artists," says Shaun.
LOOP Recordings Aot(ear)oa has previously worked with Microsoft New Zealand on the LOOP Select series of multimedia art products.
Tucker says: "Microsoft's continued support of LOOP Recordings and the New Zealand creative culture has been a key element in the growth and success of LOOP and our family of flourishing artists which includes The Black Seeds, Fly My Pretties, Adi Dick, Samuel Flynn Scott and Recloose."
