Beloved electronic-based Auckland duo Imugi release the music video for Portals- the opening track of 2020’s vibrant, locally and internationally acclaimed Dragonfruit EP and ironically the last video of the era.
Opening the EP Portals floats in with Carl Ruwhiu’s trademark cosmic synth layers, Yery Cho expressing the polarities of being abandoned by time, reality and fantasy as we stand before the sublime nature of all we carry.
“We filmed this video across many sections, an accumulation of portals in our lives as we wanted to express the fantasies buzzing in and out of this world to mirror the song”, says director and editor Casey Yeoh.
“In the outro, the biggest portal of all is a music video we shot on our camcorder three years ago that never came out.” Yeoh continues, “Perhaps one day we will release it, but for now it’s existence lies in Portals only.”

The luminary video for Portals emerges alongside Imugi’s exciting announcement of Dragonfruit Remixed EP to be released early September, described with love by Ruwhiu as “a whole EP where our Dragonfruit EP gets flipped, tossed and mixed into a giant fruit salad!”
