EM is the exciting music project by Aotearoa audio engineer/producer, Emily Wheatcroft-Snape.
Her latest single Undergrowth is an indie-pop gem, and the first from an upcoming EP. Its hypnotic guitar strums and warm, dreamy vocals, sound like the song has soaked up ‘rays’ from a hazy summers day.

Undergrowth is an “introspective but optimistic” track that follows her 2021 debut EP Dead Roses.
“It’s a reflection of where my life’s at right now. I love listening to music created by other women in their 20's, and feel like they’ve gone into my head and written a song - I want to do this for others,” says Emily.
Written and recorded at her home studio - Emily then developed Undergrowth while spending a week at Muriwai beach.
“Being locked away in such an awe inspiring landscape helped me get into the zone for the song and find its identity. This is where the drums, bass, and structure came for the song. There are production influences from the music around me growing up in the mid-2000s, as well as strong female vocal lead tunes from the past five or so years.”
Emily experimented with the track further at Big Pop Studios, Parachute Studios with engineer/producer Christian Tjandrawinata, and her home studio, before being masteredby Chris Chetland at KOG Studio.
Undergrowth is a catchy tune that perfectly sets the tone for, what is sure to be, an anticipated EM EP.
