Lost Tribe Aotearoa Release New Single 'Shaka'

22 April 2022 - 0 Comments

Today, Roots Rockers Lost Tribe Aotearoa (LTA) release Shaka the first new single from the band's forthcoming EP Lost & Found.

Shaka speaks of sending messages of positivity and getting rid of negative rhetoric, as well as connections to the bands Pacific roots and love of surfing. LTA share “The meaning of the song can be linked back to our Hawaiian brothers and sisters who use the ‘Shaka’ hand signal as simply a greeting or more deeply, the bringing together of the mind and spirit to project positive vibes. There are many common links between Māori and Hawaiian people and furthermore links between the surfing culture of Hawaii and Raglan which is how this song came about.”

Lost Tribe Aotearoa (LTA) are an 8-piece band from the surfing town of Raglan, New Zealand. You will most likely find at least one of the band surfing at Raglan's local break at any given time.

Hailing from all over the Pacific, most of the members being of Tūwharetoa (Māori) descent, as well as Aitutaki (Cook Islands Māori), American and English - their ancestral vibes shine clearly through their music.

To celebrate NZ Music Month, LTA will release a special music video to accompany the single on May 1.

Lost & Found follows the 2018 release of EP Stick Together and the 2020 release of their debut self-titled album Lost Tribe Aotearoa.

Fans, industry critics and peers have celebrated Lost Tribe Aotearoa with the album amassing around 1.5 million streams on Spotify and the EP over 1 million streams. YouTube has accumulated over 3.5million streams of both LTA’s songs and music videos. The band were nominated Best Roots Artist alongside Troy Kingi and L.A.B, at the 2019 Vodafone New Zealand Music Awards (VNZMA’s). Their latest EP is highly anticipated.

LTA are a family-based band who champion conscious messages through their lyrics. They are known for their high energy and hard hitting live shows and have played alongside many of Aotearoa’s finest bands. Their sound is an eclectic mix of roots, dub, rock, ska and blues with influences coming from many artists and genre.

Shaka is the first single from Lost Tribe Aotearoa’s new EP Lost & Found to be released later this year.

Shaka is out now via all online streaming platforms
