New Zealand has a brand new DMC DJ Champion - DJ Alphabethead from Wellington - who last week beat out defending champion P-Money and this year's runner-up CXL to claim the 2002 New Zealand title and progresses to the World DMC DJ Championship Final at the Brixton Academy in London in a couple of weeks time.
At the world final Alphabethead (a.k.a. David Morrison) will be up against a field including defending World Champ Plus One from the UK and Japanese champion DJ Kentaro, who last year came third equal with New Zealand's P-Money in what was New Zealand's best ever DMC result to date.
Alphabethead will be looking to better that effort when he takes on the world's best on September 15th, but in the meantime he'll be playing a home town fundraiser for his impending international excursion at Wellington's Valve Bar this Thursday September 5th, supported by fellow Welly turntablists Raw, Rhys B, Kerb, Goosh, SL and Kase and a posse of the capital's premiere MCs.
